Hello: Is there anyone on this list who is in Santa Fe that might be willing to do a lookup for me? In reading the website for the Fray Angelico Chavez History Library, The Palace of the Governors, Santa Fe, NM, I see where they have one article on "the Casner Brothers" in the vertical files at the library. I would like to obtain a copy of the article and will glady reimburse for expenses to obtain a copy of the article. I have a whole family of brothers (13 to be exact); several of whom settled in the NM, TX, AZ area beginning circa 1875; descendants remain there to date. One of brothers (John Casner) and his son (John Lewis Casner) are often referred to as 'the Casner Brotehrs'. When they are in Donley Co., TX they own a ranch and it is known as "the Casner Brothers Ranch". On two different census records they are listed as 'brotehrs'. The last official record I find of John and John Lewis Casner is 6-1902 when they sell the last of thier land in Haskell Co., TX. The wife and children of John Lewis appear on the 1910 and 1920 NM census records. While it could be that the elder John Casner died shortly after 1902 (he was 79 years of age) John Lewis Casner was relatively young (early 40s). The elder John Casner had been in trouble with the law in IA in the 1850s, in trouble with the law in Randall Co., TX in 1877, and again in Haskell County in 1900. I guess my I'm wondering if the article in the library verticle file might be another 'skirmish with the law'. Any assistance appreciated. Liz Freeman
