The river called the Canandian River starts at Conchas Dam in San Miguel County and heads west. It roughly splits the southern edge of of Harding County from Quay County. It then goes across the Texas panhandle and into Oklahoma. In New Mexico, the San Juan River starts at Navajo Dam and passes through Bloomfield, Farmington, and Shiprock in San Juan County.
