I would suggest that you obtain a copy of the death certificate from Vital Statistics out of Santa Fe first. Most death certificates provide place of burial. While it is quite probable that there is not an obit (having been in prison), I would then check for obits in the county where he was buried. You might also check for obits in the newspapers for the county in which Santa Fe is located. I have found news articles for people who died in prison (in other states), so it might be worth a try.
