RoseE <RAbeyta@webtv.net> had written Monday, May 08, 2000 10:21 AM "In the San Miguel del Socorro Church records, there is the following baptism record: Jesus Maria Leandro ABEITA b.14 Feb.1850 and baptized 17 March 1850--son of Desiderio ABEITA and Clementa BACA.Paternal grandparents Juan ABEITA and Josefa ARAGON... " [that should read God parents ] I checked the Angélico Chávez collection of prenuptial investigations of marriages. This gave: 1848, Mar. 25 (no. 46) Socorro, DESIDERIO ABEYTIA ([age] 26), farmer n. [native] of La Parida, son of Juan ABEYTIA and Maria Antonia ARAGON, and Maria Clemente BACA (18) n. of the same place, d. of Jose BACA and Maria Andrea TORRES. -- Witnesses: as in preceding preceding is a second marriage of Juan ABEYTIA: 1848, May 14 (no 41), Socorro, JUAN ABEYTIA (60), farmer, n. of Belen, widowed in 1st marriage of Maria Antonia ARAGON, and Ana Maria PADILLA (18), n. of La Parida, d. of Jose Padilla and Rafaela Chaves.-- Witnesses: Ramon Padilla (46), single, Juan Rafael Ribera(28), married, both farmers. I checked for the ABEYTIA-ARAGON and BACA-TORRES marriages but they were not included. Again from RoseE <RAbeyta@webtv.net> "Also, his marriage Jesus Maria AVEITA m.Maria SANCHEZ: 15 Nov 1874 --Jesus Maria AVEITA,soltero, vecino de Socorro, hijo de Desiderio AVEITA,defunto,y de Clementa VACA,con Maria SANCHEZ,soltera, vecina de Socorro, hija de Jose de Jesus SANCHEZ,difunto,y de Benita LOPEZ" The collection gives the marriage: 1850, Oct 27 (no 40), Socorro, JOSE DE JESUS SACHEZ (24), farmer, n. of S. Lorenzo, son of Julian SANCHEZ and Maria Luisa LUCERO, and Maria Benita LOPEZ (18), n. of the same place, d. of Francisco LOPEZ and Guadalupe MONTYOYA. -- Witness as above. Witnesses above are: Ramon PADILLA (46), single, Pablo Gallegez (48), married, both farmers. It was getting late and I did not take the time to follow up on the marriage of this couple's parents. Will be at the FHC by next Monday pm. The recording of the prenuptial investigation was separate from the recording of the actual marriages so the record of a marriage may have survived in only one of the two places. So far in my investigation in Albuquerque, the only relevant ones to me have been listed both places. Jim Scofield, Staff member Livermore CA Stake FHC
