    1. [NEW-MEXICO] BACA
    2. To: "Jim Scofield" <scofield@ccnet.com> Thank you, Jim, for your reference to the 11 fiche Pre-nuptial Investigations (1678-1869) of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. I should have known of their existence, because I am a Director of a Family History Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but I seem to spend far more time helping patrons and training staff than researching. I also am descended from BACA, but farther back. Francisco Xavier Chavez was kidnapped by Comanches about 1768 from his home in around Bernallio when he was 8 years old. He was adopted by an Indian woman and raised with the tribe. After her death he was sold as a slave to the Tavoyas Indian. At age 22 he escaped to San Antonio. His parents were Ignacio Chavez y Duran and Gregoria Maese. Francisco's grandparents were Francisco Duran y Chavez and Juana Baca the Younger. Wish I could help with your current problem. Thank you again for your reference. Michaele Burris
