Probably the "Gallup Independent" would have carried the info. I don't know about info in Santa Fe, but that newspaper has been there forever, and is still publishing. I believe Gallup is the county seat for McKinley County, If Grants has a newspaper, you might try there, also. Grants is now part of a new county, Cibola, created about 15 years ago.Thoreau, (pronounced threw) is between Gallup and Grants. If they were on tribal lands, the "Navajo Times", in Window Rock, AZ, might be another source.
