    1. [NEW-MEXICO] My Connection to NM
    2. Back in the early 1960's my husband worked for Kerr-McGee mines close to Grants, NM. We lived in Milan, outside of Grants for about 3 years. We are originally from Texas and other than those 3 years have always and still do reside in TX. I wish I had been researching my SIMS family then. Why is it that all "brick wall" families seem to have something to do with the state of NM? My great-grandmother, great uncle and his sister my great aunt were all in NM back in the 1920's and 1930's. I found where my great-grandmother and great uncle were buried, with a lot of help from some very nice folks in NM. But my on going dilemma is my great aunt Ellen Elizabeth Sims born 4 Jun 1881 in TX and died in 1929 in NM. Her husband, Lawrence Callie Nickell (no children), a twin born 1 Jan 1881 in TX and she lived about 5 miles outside of Clovis in Curry Co. NM. I can't find her death certificate in NM or TX and can't find where she is buried in either state. Most of our Libraries with genealogy depts. here in TX don't have much if anything from NM in them. I am always so grateful to anyone in NM when they help me with my research.
