    3. This is my first post to the list. I have vacationed many times in NM and have a sister who lives out there (Gallup). Have just discovered one of my families that made their way to NM in the 1870s and/or 1880s. If there are any CASNER or CARSNER descendants/researchers on this list, I would like to hear from you. I have considerable information on this line that I am willing to share. The family begins in VA in 1801, makes it way via KY and TN to MO circa 1818; the name was CASNER; one of the sons makes his way to IA where he dies in 1847. This particular son had 13 sons (so the tradition goes) and one daughter. A very wild bunch. Most make their way to OR circa 1850-1860; circa 1870s there is a split in the family (reason still unknown to me);those that remain in OR and WA change the name to CARSNER; those that move to AZ, TX, NM, NV, UT, ID keep the spelling CASNER. Those in CA are spelled both ways. Would like to hear from any CASNER/CARSNER researchers/descendants who may be subscribed to this list. Liz Freeman In OK! PS: Yes, some of them even got to OK in the 1920s for a very brief period of time.
