    3. I have a family of 13 brothers that roamed the west from the1850s through 1920 (I think they were all dead by then as I can't find any of them on that census). Anyway, one brother and his son by the name of John Casner and John Lewis Casner were mining in Silver City, NM in 1876-1877. Two brothers to the elder John Casner were murdered in the Palo Duro Canyon, TX in 1-1877. Shortly thereafter, the elderJohn Casner "went to town to get supplies; the supplies were wrapped in old newspapers; when he unwrapped the supplies, he was reading the newspaper and came across the news about his two brothers being murdered. He shows up in TX in 3-1877. My question is this: Assuming (oh me there is that troublesome word) the newspaper was from Silver City, NM, does anyone on this list know if Silver City, NM had a newspaper for the time fram 1-1877 through 3-1877? If so, would it be on microfilm at the State Library in Santa Fe or would it be on microfilm at a genealogical society in Grant County (I think that is where Silver City is located). Any information appreciated. Liz Freeman In OK!
