For those of you who use Search Engines, Using More Than One Search Engine If you're like me, you probably turn to one or two search engines when looking for your ancestors. I routinely use Google.com for quick searches and altaVista.com for more complex ones. Google rates very high in returning the most relevant" search results; AltaVista gives you the capability of structuring the most complex searches. However, the Internet has many, many search engines, and I know I'm guilty of under-utilizing them. In my experience, each engine returns hits which are slightly different from other engines. So, if you hit a dead end, why not try other engine? Rose~ Thanks for the list. I didn't notice two other searches I routinely employ: (1) Webferret -- download at http://www.instalservis.cz/Download/WebFerret/webferret.html and the other is (2) Copernic 2000 -- download at: http://www.copernic.com/ Both of these search multiple engines simultaneously. This was on another list and It might be worth checking out! Villarreal Family web page Another 2,500 individuals have been added to the Villarreal data base. These names are mostly from Danny Villarreal's mother's side of the family. These names were collected after a recent family reunion -- the complete family genealogy includes over 2,700 individuals. When printed out this family tree is 24 feet long!!! It includes many families from Northern Cameron and Willacy Counties as well as all the Villarreales from Hidalgo County. http://209.34.24.122/Webcards/WC_TOC.htm Direct link... The surnames which are most prelevant in the data base are Villarreal, Longoria, Flores, Gutierrez, Loya, Muniz, Cortez, Olvera, Gallaga, and Galvan. The oldest entries are early 1400's to date. A total of 5,264 people 3,892 families, all related to Danny Villarreal (compiler) one way or another. Its a very large file and sometimes, depending on your computer and connection speed, the index takes a long time to load. Its a great resource and the information it contains has been checked for accuracy. Here is My Ancestry Line! Take a look,we could be connected! http://community.webtv.net/RAbeyta/MaternalABEYTALine

John, My sister found my gggrandparents in the 1860 Census in a place called Aquila. Then on the 1870 Census she found them in Chapperito. Then in 1880 she found them in Rincon del Tecolote. She said in 1870 she did not find Aquila listed, then in 1880 she did not find Chapperito listed. Do you know if this is the same place (that later became known as Rociada) but the name just changed over and over again? Or are these different towns? If anyone knows I appreciate a reply. Thanks. Jim Scofield searching LUJANs in Rociada, San Miguel Co, which was called Rincon(es) del Tecolote --------------------------------------------------------------- dear Jim, Thank you for posting this sentence! I knew my grandfather was born in Rociada, and then a couple of days ago I was searching the 1860 Census and found my great great grandfather living in Rincon del Tecolote. After reading your sentence I now know that my gggrandfather lived in the same area as my grandfather later did. This will be helpful. Thank you Cynthia Lucero Thompson Torrance, California

Yesterday, I sent the following message to the list. After I sent the message, I found out that Geocities was having a problem displaying the site. I THINK it is fixed now, and I sincerely apologize to the list for any inconvenience. It was not a joke, and the access to the site is not limited, it is just a plain old geocities site. Again, I apologize. Donna Here is a new site with links to all kinds of biographical information. http://geocities.com/genbios __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! From: Thelma Heinrich <ladythel@uswest.net> asked: Subject: [NEW-MEXICO] Cemeteries in Albuquerque <<< I am new to this list and I would like to know if there is a list of cemeteries in Albuquerque? I just found out that one of my aunts was buried there about 1936. >>> The online Yahoo yellow pages lists the following three present day cemeteries: Mount Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM (505) 243-0218 Gate-Heaven Catholic Cemetery 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE Albuquerque, NM (505) 821-0800 Cemetery 9500 San Pedro Dr NE Albuquerque, NM (505) 262-1454 I have not made requests in New Mexico, but elsewhere I have just called up the cemetery and they could tell me if a person was buried there and the death date. Filmed copies of the index to the New Mexico death certificates are available for rent at local LDS Family History Centers. Index T-Z 1889-1930 Index A-Z 1931-1940 FHL US/CAN Film 1991646 Filmed copies of the death certificates are available 1889-1945. I actually do not see many listed prior to the 1920s. I don't know if there is a list, especially of the older cemeteries, but I could look in the phonebook, or visit the cemetery after you find out where she is buried, and take photos for you. I am frequently in Albuquerque. Babs Shelton At 11:17 PM 08/23/2000 -0700, you wrote: >I am new to this list and I would like to know if there is a >list of cemeteries in Albuquerque? I hope I am not the only one on this list. My reason for joining to to search for any information on a Great Uncle William Foulkes Edwards. He was born in Wales, 1864, emigrated to America and ended up becoming a train driver for the railways. He was killed in a collision between two trains at Chama in July 1917. He may have left a family, though I can find nothing on them at this stage. Also he was rumored to have become an Honorary Indian Chief. Could some-one please advise me how to go about finding more information about this gentleman. Thanking you in advance Barry Edwards

I am trying to break through one of the may dead ends in my efforts to discover all of the descendants of my immigrant g-g-grandparents. Like most of us, I lack the ability to visit every state vital records office personally so I am asking for your help. Could someone please check the state register for the death of George LAUSCHER? DOB Sept. 1885 in WI DOD After 1944 - place unknown George's parents were Hubert LAUSCHER and Mary Ann STOFFELS. George is not listed on the Social Security death index. He divorced his wife and left his home in MI about 1934 when his youngest son was 3. He is now 70 and never heard from or saw his father again. Since I am not a regular subscriber to all state lists, if you have any information that could help me discover George's death date and resting place, would you please e-mail me personally. In advance, thank you. Janet Mihelich
