Hello all - I have just added a new web page and two new scripts to the Cyndi's List web site. These are designed to help me with the increasing tremendous load of incoming e-mail that I'm dealing with every day. I noticed that I was beginning to spend more time on my e-mail each day than I was spending on updating the site. Things HAD to change! I had a few ideas that would help me take back control, so I passed some of them by the wizards at Sierra. I wanted to find a way to have people e-mail me with new links and updates for current links that would be easy for each of you and would make things quicker and easier to deal with from my end. Here is what we came up with: Each of the category pages on Cyndi's List now has three new links at the top and at the bottom of the page: Submit a New Link Report a Broken Link Update a Link 1. How to Submit a New Link to Cyndi's List If you know of a web site that isn't yet included on Cyndi's List, please make note of the address and send it to me. Please see: Submit a New Link to Cyndi's List http://www.CyndisList.com/newlink.htm The new link will be reported to me and I will add it to the list as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that these pages are here to help me control the large amounts of incoming e-mail I am receiving. Also, please remember that I am only one person and that I am doing my best to keep up with all requests. Therefore, please do not submit a new link more than once. Please do not submit a new link repetitively because you think I may have lost your original request. Every new e-mail message I receive takes time for me to deal with and can keep me from getting to your original request, as well as the requests I get from hundreds of other people each day. 2. How to Update an Existing Link on Cyndi's List If you have a new address for a web site already linked on Cyndi's List, or if you have an updated description or information to accompany a link, please use the link on each category page titled: Update a Link. A new copy of the category page will be generated, including a broken link picture next to each link. Click on the broken link picture next to the link that you would like to have updated. On the next page, enter the updated information and click the update button. The updated information for the link will be reported to me and I will take care of it as soon as possible. 3. How to Report a Broken Link Found on Cyndi's List If you find a link on Cyndi's List that isn't working, please use the link on each category page titled: Report a Broken a Link. A new copy of the category page will be generated, including a broken link picture next to each link. Click on the broken link picture next to the link that you are reporting as broken. On the next page, enter new, updated information where possible and click the update button. The broken link will be reported to me and I will take care of it as soon as possible. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have also taken two more steps to help the e-mail situation. First, I created a new page with information and guidelines about sending e-mail to me regarding the web site: About Sending E-mail to Cyndi http://www.CyndisList.com/e-mail.htm Then, I linked this page to each of the spots where my e-mail address appears on the web site. That way people will have a chance to read the various guidelines before sending me e-mail. This should help to cut down on some of the e-mail I have been receiving which have questions that can be answered by reading other pages contained on the web site. I would like to make one final plea regarding my e-mail. The changes I've made are designed to help me control the time I'm spending on e-mail. I honestly feel that my time is better spent by working on the web site, adding new links and correcting broken links. I appreciate hearing from all of you and I enjoy all the new friends I've made online. I wish I could spend more time corresponding with many of you each day. However, as stated in a few places on the web site, there is only one of me and there are thousands of you. So please review the guidelines on "About Sending E-mail to Cyndi" and keep my daily workload in mind whenever you write to me. Thank you for taking the time to help me in this!
