"The Susquehannah Company Papers" Set of four hardcover books published in 1930 & 1933 by the Wyoming Historical & Geological Society. Excellent condition - like new. These books contain documents relating to the Susquehanna Company and the move from Connecticut to settle the territory in northeastern Pennsylvania. Combined, the books cover the period 1750 through 1772 and contain almost 1,500 pages of information. The books also contain two pull out maps. One detailing the land plots under the Delaware Connecticut purchases and the Connecticut Susquehanna Company's purchase. Included on the maps are the surnames of those who originally acquired the land! Each book has its own index. The set contains the names of thousands of men and women associated with the settlement of Northeastern Pennsylvania (primarily the Wyoming Valley - Luzerne County). Also included are black & white photographs of some of these individuals. A great set of books for those interested in genealogy, and searching your family tree, as well as local history. A limited number of four-volume sets are available. First come - First serve. E-mail me with any questions or for more information.

Have you ever wondered where the term "Bloomers" came from? <g> MRS. AMELIA JENKS, originally from NY, married DEXTER CHAMBERLAIN BLOOMER, an attorney at law and one of the most prominent and respected citizens of Council Bluffs, IA, born in Scipio, Cayuga County, NY. As Mrs. Bloomer, her first national notoriety was occasioned by her introduction of what was known as the "Bloomer costume," which called the attention of the public to an urgent reform in dress, and has led to important modifications of the old and unhealthful fashion, and secondly, and more lastingly, as a prominent and efficient advocate of the cause of woman suffrage. She was the first president of the Iowa Woman Suffrage Society.
