Our research note for September provides an alphabetic list of 500+ claimants for property depredation following the Dakota Conflict of 1862. Many of those affected by the Conflict were recent arrivals in Minnesota, not appearing on the 1860 Federal census, and leaving before the 1865 State census. The affidavits for the claims list the property lost and offer insight into the life style of settlers on the Minnesota frontier during this period.
