    3. Received this from a friend -- unsure whether this is REAL or a form of jokes that go around once in awhile -- but considering that I had heard through the grape-vine for the past 5 years from many of my European friends (that this was coming) I am going to treat it as serious, but you can judge for yourself and only time will tell -- feel this is something we genealogists may need to know for coming future messages, books, research (if real) and if this isn't real it is still great as a joke (almost like that one about the spell-checker). 3. I agree with you. I'm very new here, but I'm giving another thought about this, being new, I might make a mistake, this is my hobby, not my living! The only real info I've received here was listening to someone else's 'chit-chat'. Is there a list of general rules here? -----Original Message----- From: AQUILLA HE <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Tuesday, March 17, 1998 6:15 PM Subject: Re: [NEW-GEN-URL-L] Re: Unidentified subject! >You really don't have to get nasty about it, todt! And not 'someone' made a mistake, there have been MANY similar posts over the last week or so. It just makes it nice when people can FOLLOW the rules of a list and post accordinly instead of continually posting whatever they want - regardless of the nature of the list or what the listowner has previously posted on the subject. I guess this amounts to people NOT reading the description of a list when they sub to it!

Has the purpose of this list changed or something? It's my understanding that this list is ONLY for posting NEW or UPDATED url's - as in WEB-PAGES. If I remember correctly, the listowner posted something a couple of weeks ago about NO CHIT-CHAT, NO PERSONAL emails, NO REQUESTS FOR INFO - Just URL's! REMEMBER - the name of the list - NEW-GEN-URL I think this means: New Genealogy url's (like web-sites). Please people, your ruining a good list with all this personal chit-chat stuff. If you want more info on the Cox name - join the Cox list or write to the person privately. The rest of us are not interested in your back and forth conversations - that's considered private email or chit-chat. Thanks!
