Hi all - Just a brief note to tell you that we've successfully installed the new Cisco 4500M router, the new high-speed ethernet switch, and several hundred feet of new Cat 5 ethernet cable in RootsWeb's main network operations center. I stress-tested the equipment and managed to get the CPU utilization up to 7% in the router. I think 93% spare capacity will be enough for a little while. (: Folks should notice RootsWeb's servers being slightly more responsive now. The main benefit of these upgrades, though, is that we can keep expanding without running into hardware capacity limits anytime soon. Anyway, I'm finally going to bed. When I get up, I'll be setting up the new search engine servers for live beta testing. You can expect some oddities in how the search engine server seems to work during the next several days as we run tests and tune the new servers. Good night all! Hi All! I have updated the Denton Family Genealogy web site and added more down-loadable gedcoms for your personal use. These now include Moore, Hunt, Denton, Plumlee, Chastain, O'Dell and Cooper surnames, from the 1600s to present day. While these zipped gedcom files include those who married into the Denton family, they also include many more lines of descendants from common ancestors, and there are hundreds of these 'cousins' and their families. (These files are NOT the same as the on-line searchable database at the web site, and have hundreds more individuals.) Of course, the page still has biographies and wills and searchable database of hundreds of surnames, pertinent links and a little 'fun stuff' too! Mostly, these families moved from Virginia and New York through the Carolinas into Kentucky and Tennessee and then fanned out all over the country. If you have any questions about anything on the site or would like more information, please let me know! The address is: http://www.acun.com/dentons Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook
