I am Evelyn FAY DANIELS Hansson and I was born in Mounds, Pulaski County, Illinois. I had many ancestors who settled in southern Illinois and am doing research for those ancestors. My paternal surnames are: Charles D. Hathaway DANIELS, born 10/02/1869 in North Carolina, married 04/20/1892 in Pulaski County, IL. and died and buried 10/29/1940 at Mounds, Pulaski County, IL. Charles D. Hathaway DANIELS married Elizabeth "Lizzie" CLANTON who was born --/--/1875 in Pulaski Co., IL and died 06/09/1939 and is buried in Mounds, Pulaski Co. IL. There were 15 children in this family and one daughter is still living. Ancestors of Charles DANIELS were DANIEL without an s. Probably Charles DANIELS added the s to his name. My father was Raymond DANIELS, son of Charles and ELizabeth CLANTON DANIELS. Father of Charles D. Hathaway DANIELS was John Lewis DANIEL(no s) born --/--/1839 in Claiborne County, TN. Married 02/08/1864 to Nancy Manerva DANIEL DANIEL. Nancy Manerva DANIEL DANIEL was the daughter of John Washington DANIEL and his wife Louisanna Mayes. John L. DANIEL and Nancy Manerva DANIEL are buried in Pulaski Co., IL. Nancy Manerva DANIEL DANIEL was a cousin to John L. DANIEL. John L. DANIEL was also married to #2 wife, Nancy ? born in Kentucky in 1845. #3 wife was Mary ANGLIN and #4 wife was Eliza MAUPIN. I believe these 4 wives are buried in Pulaski CO., IL. He had several children by the wife #1 and wife #2, one son by wife #3 and no children with wife #4. On the day John L. DANIEL married Wife #4; Eliza MAUPIN; he was shot and killed by her father who was taken from the jail and hanged by a masked mob. Would anyone know of a newspaper article or magazine that documented that event on July 22, 1885? Father of John L. DANIEL was Joseph DANIEL, born 05/11/1818 in Grainger, Claiborne Co., TN, married 01/25/1838 in Tennessee to Levisa GREENLEE, born --/--/1819 in TN. Joseph DANIEL died 15/09/1863 and is buried at Cumberland Ford, KY (now Pineville, Bell County, Kentucky.) Levisa GREENLEE DANIEL died at home in Laurel Bridge, Kentucky on 08/29/1897. Wives of the DANIEL men were: GREENLEE, CLANTON, SPENCE, AUBERT, IRVINE, STYMEST, ECHOLS, etc. My maternal surnames are: James Augustus CROW, born 02/15/1880 in Williamson Co., IL, married to Ollie Bertha PENNELL October 19, 1902. Ollie PENNELL was born 12/27/1880 in Mounds, Pulaski County, IL. James and Ollie CROW are buried at Mounds, Pulaski County, IL. Father to James Augustus CROW was Jesse CROW who was married to Sarah ARMSTRONG and they had two children: James Augustus CROW and Myrtle Mae CROW and then Sarah ARMSTRONG CROW died and Jesse CROW was married one or more times after her death. I don't know if there were other children or names of the other wives.(Have a record that says Jesse CROW was married to Sarah BISHOP...may be second or more wife.) Ollie B. PENNELL was the daughter of Spencer PENNELL and Julian (Julia Ann) BEAGLE/BEEGLE Parents of Julian BEAGLE/BEEGLE were William Strader BEAGLE/BEEGLE and Sarah Ann LANE BEAGLE/BEEGLE.
