To all interested researchers, I have added Prospect Hill Cemetery to my WebSite. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9793/index.html It can be found under Warren Co., Va. Cemeteries. Judy Campbell
Hi! I finally created my own genealogy home page! My pages include information on my earliest ancestors, related books by author, related links, query page, cemetery pages, obituaries, my dad's published stories about his childhood experiences, loaded with graphics, and music. Will soon add newspaper clippings, family photos, and reference links plus more. I will keep busy updating! So if you have a moment, please come for a visit. Thanks, Danielle Thompson http://members.aol.com/DThomp3907/index.html A direct link: <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/dthomp3907/index.html"> Danielle's Genealogy Home Page</A>

Hi friends! No new url to contribute here........but I noticed some "discussion" occurring on our list.....so I thought I'd lighten-your-day a bit and share this "Discussion Group" post for all to enjoy! Much love and many smiles, Beth* .....San Diego, California..... *;) The following is from the "Just 4 Laughs humor list": Discussion group subscribers... Q: How many internet mail list discussion group subscribers does it take to change a light bulb? A: 1,331: 1 to change the light bulb and to post to the mail list that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently. 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs. 27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs. 53 to flame the spell checkers 156 to write to the list administrator complaining about the light bulb discussion and its inappropriateness to this mail list. 41 to correct spelling in the spelling/grammar flames. 109 to post that this list is not about light bulbs and to please take this email exchange to alt.lite.bulb 203 to demand that cross posting to alt.grammar, alt.spelling and alt.punctuation about changing light bulbs be stopped. 111 to defend the posting to this list saying that we are all use light bulbs and therefore the posts **are** relevant to this mail list. 306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty. 27 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs 14 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly, and to post corrected URLs. 3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this list which makes light bulbs relevant to this list. 33 to concatenate all posts to date, then quote them including all headers and footers, and then add "Me Too." 12 to post to the list that they are unsubscribing because they cannot handle the light bulb controversey. 19 to quote the "Me Too's" to say, "Me Three." 4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ. 1 to propose new alt.change.lite.bulb newsgroup. 47 to say this is just what alt.physic.cold_fusion was meant for, leave it here. 143 votes for alt.lite.bulb.

You guys wouldn't believe the amount of email's I've received today about Broderbund sending out CD's for us to send them our gedcoms! I'm just glad to here that you HAVEN'T!!! And sorry for the idiots how have! Don't want to start a debate with those who have sent their's in, but I sure hope you people regret it and will pass the word to others, NOT TO! It's a dam shame how one person can submit data, that can really invade the privacy of another. And Broderbund lets it happen!!! How many sites have they sent their web spiders out to trying to gather more...stolen data for their cd's? I know they hit rootsweb many times giving them major problems! And gee, if you go to their Family Tree Maker site, and do a search for some of my unique family surnames, they come up on their site, because they happen to be listed in my Personal Genealogy site! So that only tells me that they've hit my server with their spiders! Gee...and the poor, no internet people out there buy the cd's not knowing that the company is a bunch of theives and they can find much of the same data online for FREE!!!! Ok, getting annoyed...gotta run! Joanne
OK people, you've been patient and I've stayed too long but listen up. Someone just told me that not just names were published by Broderbund, but e-mail notes that I shared with the so called submitter...about my parents. How many of you consider that be an invasion of privacy??? Or does that qualify as the rights of a researcher to do whatever it takes to increase his database???
Please lets get back to posting new genealogy url's and take your thoughts elsewhere I do not have to be told or the list either that we had a subscriber who posted spam. Now take Broderbund topic elsewhere. Nadine Listowner

People seem to get what they can and run with it, not thinking of others. Sometimes people react before they think. Human error. :<( I hope, since there are so many cd's published you do not have problems. Another reason before something is published the sources should be verified. It does not matter who it is, Big or Small. It should be verified and if current should have authorization in writing first.. Addie
Our list owner should be doing something abut this. This TRASH is just that TRASH!!!!!!!!!!! It should not be allowed on our genealogy lists. Visitors to my sites used to get spammed like crazy, that is, until I changed my site over from a the basic html site to a database driven one. When those teeney weeney spiders come sniffing my way, they only get MY email address...because it's listed right on the page. In order to get all the submitters and data, they would have to do months worth of searches to get them. I'm sure they will eventually find a way in there, but, have to protect as best I can! I missed your first message on you're kids on the cd's...can you fill me in? I'm curious as to how they got on there!!! Wonder if I'm on there! My husband and I object to Broderbund's techniques since they started! All our hard work, they take it for free, and make big $$ on us! And to think...all the idiots out there doing it! (nothing personal guys!) I use Family Tree Maker Deluxe, and am on their mailing list since I registered the product...(personal mistake) they had the nerve to send me a "Nicey Nice letter" and a disk, with directions on sending in my GEDCOM file! Postage paid of course. I was appauled! I just can't get over it..they even offer a discount on PURCHASING cd's after you send in your data!!! Please, I give them MY work for free, they sell it, but I still have to BUY IT!..at least give the submitter something back for FREE!!!! Unbelievable!!! Just a short follow up on this subject: PTI Investigations is a company that my wife and I own and operate. PTI Investigations is a Private Investigation company as you can determine from the name. I do online research for PTI Investigations and when we are doing missing ( http://members.aol.com/scribblerg/pti.htm ) person/adoption and background searches, one of the first searches done is on genealogical webpages, CD's, etc. In MANY instances, it is quite possible to locate the necessary information on someone to assist in obtaining further information. Anyone should carefully consider what information they are putting on the web re living persons before they do so. Once put there, it is always there. I don't care who removes a webpage or material on that page - someone has probably already copied it and made a record of it. Web pages, Email, and newsgroups are like arrows and words - once released, they can never be recalled. Lee
To everyone who visited the page and took the time to read it, I thank you. I tried to respond to everyone who wrote; if I missed you...sorry...and I will go through again tomorrow to catch your comments. Btw, for those who did visit the site...shortly after sending my "dramatic plea" regarding my "anonymous" "personal crusade" to all the lists above, the "person" who submitted my children's names to Broderbund finally saw fit to e-mail that he had granted permission to Broderbund to remove my children's name from the Internet family Finder Index and future productions of the CD in question. Coincidence? Perhaps. Or, perhaps he was worried that someone would post his name on the Internet. What goes around, comes around. Remember that if you are tempted to do what he did. Shameless? You betcha! But a helluva lot more gutsy than he is. And, in the whole shameless process, I really sincerely do hope that some one has learned to ask "may I" before clicking. The best to all in your ancestral quests...I've got kids and house to tend to. Mollie

To anyone unaquainted with Broderbund's World Family Tree submission policies...Please visit the link below before you unknowingly violate another's privacy or someone violates yours. Please, please take the time to inform yourself and your friends. This is not intended as a Broderbund Bash. I do not use their CDs, and was totally unaware that anyone may submit any living person's name without their permission or knowledge. No verification of the information is made by Broderbund. No responsibility is made by Broderbund. It takes 2-3 months to have one's name or one's child's name taken off the Family Finder Index...IF...the submitter gives his or her permission!!
