I would highly recommend the program ICQ to anyone who is not using it. It is a free download available at http://www.mirabalis.com This program allows real-time online chatting with a friend and allows you to build a contact list where you can see when one of your contacts comes online. I use it to correspond with friends in Australia, Thailand, Germany and around the US. It beats AOL instant message and others. There are over 10,000,000 people signed up and more coming. You can check out my pager/info web page at http://www.mirabalis.com/13012950 to see how it works and to download from there also. The system is very easy to use and more features are being added. It's well worth your time to go look. Lee Griggs -- Saints & Sinners Newsletter PO Box 1536 Camden, SC 29020-8536 Tel: 803-432-9008 Fax: 803-424-0450
ICQ is a great program and is much better then Aol Instant Messenger. I understand that AOL has agreed in principle to purchase Mirabalis the folks who put out ICQ, so no telling where it will go after that. Hello all - I have just completed a major update to the web site for the Tacoma-Pierce County Genealogical Society in Washington State. The TPCGS web site is located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~watpcgs/tpcgs.htm New on the TPCGS Web Site: ~~~ 40 new Ancestor Exchange entries submitted by society members. ~~~ 19 new Queries. ~~~ A new page for The Researcher - The society's quarterly publication. The page includes information on how to submit articles, how to order back issues of The Researcher and how to locate copies of articles from previous issues. ~~~ Index to Pierce County and Other Washington Records Published in The Researcher, Volumes 1 - 29 (#2 Winter Issue 1998). Locate a record that might interest you, then order a copy of the Researcher article which listed that record. ~~~ Changes in Pierce County School Districts Since their Inception. This index by Janet Baccus, shows the name of the school, the name of the school district that the school joined and the date on which it joined, as well as the new school district number. Please stop by the TPCGS web site and take a look at the terrific resources the society has to offer. Besides the new features listed above, the web site also contains details on: ~~Become a Member of TPCGS ~~Family Line Research service ~~TPCGS Publications for Sale ~~The TPCGS Activities Calendar ~~TPCGS Monthly Meetings schedule ~~The PSRoots Mailing List ~~National Archives Microfilm Collection in Seattle ~~Puget Sound Genealogy Resources Thanks for visiting the Tacoma-Pierce County Genealogical Society web site! I will be listing this site with search engines next week and would like to have some interesting events already posted on the German Family Reunions page. Anyone looking for Books about German Migration and German Genealogy will also want to check out these categories - see http://www.germanmigration.com. Hope to hear from you --- Diana Church
I just checked out the following 2 URL's and think they could be of significant value to anyone trying to trace U. S. Military history or genealogy issues related to records of their relatives. See what you think? They are as follows: http://www.history.navy.mil/index.html http://imabbs.army.mil/cmh-pg/ Happy Hunting. /S/ Rear Admiral Jim Carey Washington, DC
