FROM THINGS THAT I'VE READ, IT SEEMS THAT WHEN THE ENGLISH LANDLORD "HELPED" THE TENANT WITH PASSAGE (AT LEAST DURING THE FAMINE), - IT WAS PROBABLY BECAUSE HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT TENANT AND IT WAS CHEAPER TO SEND HIM TO AMERICA!
