I have been trying to find ancestors of my gggrandparents John Kelly and Catherine Keating. John was born in Manchester England of Irish parents in 1825. His parents are John Kelly and Elizabeth Ebbs. He came to this country 1842 or 1845 according to census records. He next appears in Grafton MA, where his daughter Elizabeth is born in 1856 and his daughter, Julie in 1857. In 1859 he is in Putnam CT, where daughter Catherine is born in 1859 and daughter Honora (my ggrandmother) is born. He served in the Civil War from CT and died there in 1910. I have been unable to find the marriage of John and Catherine. She died in 1881 in Putnam CT and all I know of her is that she was from County Cork. There appears to be a brother, Michael Keating, who was living with them in 1880 in Putnam. Would anyone be researching these families or have any hints of how I might gain more information.
