    3. I have some 1896 letters written to Hiram Barbee which deal with the Neville ancestry. They are very faded, written in pencil on tablet paper, I will try to make the words out as best I can. I think, that these letters which used to be owned Lena Barbee Salyers and copied by Dossie Gilbreath were the original source of come of the Neville information. I have tried to copy it - spelling and all -- just as I found it. Faucette, N.C. January 1896 Dear Cousin Hiram, I will send you the list of your great grandfather Neville's family. Jesse Neville was your great grandfather. Jesse Neville born September 24, 1746 His wife, Elizabeth Neville born 1752 They were married in 1770 Their children's names and ages: 1. Goodwin Neville born January 13, 1771 2, Cynthia Neville born October 18, 1772 3. Elizabeth Neville born January 28, 1775 (your grandmother) 4. Solomon Neville born April 3, 1777 5. Benjamin Neville born July 8, 1779 6. Jesse Neville born Dec 29, 1782 7. Goodmon Neville born January 9, 1784 8. Cynthia Ann Neville born March 16, 1786 9. Wilie Whitley Nevillle born Dec. 16, 1787 10. Samuel Park Neville born March 23, 1790 (Great Western Preacher) 11. Selah Neville born April 16, 1792 12.Oriss or Cass? Neville born 1794 (dead) (the above was not ledgible) The two letters ss were all I could be sure of. there was the name Oriss mentioned below. Cousin Hiram, this is correct. It is taken from the old Family Bible. Cousin Henry Ruffin Lloyd has the Bible and I have taken this list from it, myself. Robert can tell you who Hall Lloyd is. We all call him Hal. If you want a list of my great grandfather's family and also a list of my great- great- grandfather's family and I also can send you a list of the negroes. This Bible has been handed down from generation to generation. I have only one great Aunt Neville living. She is Ephran Lloyd, mother of Henry Ruffin Lloyd. Aunt Ephran's husband's name was Oriss. (I am not sure of this name, it was too dim to read.) Lloyd. He is dead. I guess that this will be interesting to you. I will send you my age. I was born September 13, 1866. Nearly all the above Nevills have children in the West. They are scattered all over the West. Solomon Neville has children in Memphis, Tenn. Solomon's grandson, Ike, was here at Chapel Hill about three years ago. The letter is signed by Sidney Lloyd who married Susannah Barbee. The Lloyds, Nevilles, and Barbees seem to have intermarried several times. The letters he promised to send later have not been located as far as I know. However, there are a couple of letters with scattered information, I will try to copy later in hope it will help someone find a piece of the family puzzle.
