    3. Jane and others, I just realized the reply I sent to Jane went to her private e-mail and not the list. I am reposting it to the list in case some of you see something that might link with information you have which could help Jane. Jan ------------ Jane, Welcome to the Neville List! I have the following reference to a Francis Neville in NC. I have not checked the primary source, and there are discrepancies in the abstracts I found in two different publications. 1725, April 16, FRANCES NEVILL, in NC will names John Collins and Lucy his wife, John Armour, Old Madam Britt. (NC Hist. and Gen. Reg.) (See below 1735 ref. Need to check these sources.) 1735, April 20, FRANCIS NEVILL, in Little Rivers, NC will mentions legatees James Collins and wife Luce; John Armor ("My Bote"). (Grimes' Abstracts of NC Wills) Even though the above Francis Nevill died before your Francis was born, I thought you might be interested in the reference as a possibility for a related Neville family who might have come to this country before yours. I have never found any other NC information about this person and do not know if he was related to any of the other NC/SC groups I have studied. During what time was Samuel going to Charleston? A Joshua Nevill and a John Nevill immigrated from Ireland to Charleston in the late 1700s. They do not appear to be related. Joshua and son Henry were called cabinetmakers (generally same as furniture makers) in Charleston. One descendant has stated that her family story is that Joshua was originally from England. I don't think anyone has verified that yet, but I thought this story also worth mentioning since your Ann Neville m. Hubbard who was a furniture maker. A de Neufville family also lived in Charleston. (Some descendants have spelled the name Neuville and Neville). They were Huguenots, but some of the family lived in England before coming to Charleston. I will look further in my notes to see if I can find a Neville/Cole connection in SC. In American Genealogical-Biographical Index, among the many references to books and publications where Neville/Nevill/Nevil, etc. information can be found are several Neville references related to a genealogy column of Boston Transcript 1906-1941 (newspaper). The column is described as the greatest single source of material for genealogical data of New England area for the period 1600-1800. The AG-BI has a index of the issues and the numbers for the Neville references. Are you familiar with this source? What a good find on the Neville christening information in England!
