John of Gaunt's surname was actually Plantagenet. He was one of the last males of that family as the name died out. I have him married to Katherine Roelt, also known as Katherine Swinford or Katherine of Hainault. I don't know if the other wife is valid or not. He would be referenced in books on the Emperor Charlemagne's descendants. I found my references in a set of books called MAGNA CHARTA which traces descendants of the signers of the Magna Charta signed by King John in the 1200s. Glenn Gohr ggohr01@mail.orion.org
