Hello Group, In going through some of my papers, I found queries from "Kentucky Kinfolks," which was a genealogy column in the Herald-Post, Louisville, Ky, in 1936. The information in these queries may be of help to some of you, but keep in mind that some of the information is probably incorrect. Jan #254 "BLAKEMORE, GREEN - B.F.M. Feb. 28, 1936. Capt. Thomas Blakemore was born in Lower Virginia June 19, 1718, and died Oct. 26, 1808. He went to Fauquier County in 1756 and November 5th of that year married Annie Neville, born Oct. 11, 1735, died June 10, 1826. She was a daughter of Capt. George Neville, of Fauquier, and his second wife, Mary Gibbs. Captain Blakemore and wife lived at "Moreland" in Warren County, Va. They had eight, and possibly nine, children: George, Thomas, Lucy, Annie, Sarah, Hannah, John, James. A son, Marquis Quincy Blakemore, was listed among their children in papers of the late Frank T. Blakemore, Paris, Ky., family historian, but his name has not been found elsewhere. It is said that he lived at "Woodlawn," Warren County, Va., adjoining estates of his father and his brother, George. George Blakemore, son of Captain Thomas, was born May 23, 1759, and died July 25, 1833(?), at "Cedar Grove," Warren county, Va. He was a Revolutionary soldier. (Heitman's Historical Register of Officersof the --- --- page -). He married --- ---, 1783, Elizabeth Mauzy, born Jan. 24, 1764, died Aug. 18, 1824, daughter of Col. Henry Mauzy, and first wife, Ann Withers. George Neville [Blakemore ??] and Elizabeth Mauzy had six children: Lucy Neville, born May 5, 178-, died May 18, 1859, wed April 8, 1802 William Richardson Buck, born Feb. 25, 1776, died Oct. 28, 1823, having eight children: Marquis Calmes, wed Rebecca Chandler and had four children; George, born ____, died Feb. 20, 1847, wed Oct. 29 or 27, 1814, his cousin, Elizabeth Price Buck, born Sept. 5, 1794, and had seven children; Thomas, married Elizabeth White Brooke and had six children; Eliza, wed Capt. Benjamin Elliott; John Mauzy, born June 4, 1798, died July 27, 1853, wed Aug. 10, 1820, Letitia Amelia Buck, born April 7, 1803, died June 15, 1885, and had six or seven children. Thomas Blakemore, son of Capt. Thomas Blakemore and Annie Neville, was killed at Brandywine. Lucy Blakemore, daughter of Capt. Thomas and Annie Neville, was born April 8, 1764, and died in 1858, at the age of 94, according to the "Cedar Grove" Bible; Gresham's Kentucky Biographies in sketch of H. W. Bruce, says she was born in March, 1764, and died in November, 1862. She married Thomas Bragg, Revolutionary soldier, of Fauquier Co., Va., who moved to Nelson County, Ky., in 1800, and then to Lewis County, Ky; his father was Joseph Bragg, of near Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Lucy Blakemore Bragg was living in Lewis County, Ky, in December, 1857, age 93 (Virginia Historical Collection, New Series, Vol. 9, page 204, which erroneously states that she was a sister of Capt. William Helm - she was a niece of his wife.) Lucy Blakemore and Thomas Bragg had among other children Amanda Bragg, who married Alexander Bruce, son of John Bruce and Elizabeth Clay. John Blakemore, son of Capt. Thomas Blakemore and Annie Neville, is said to have married a Miss Guest and moved to Kentucky; he married a Miss Keene, of Fayette County, Ky., according to family papers of the late Samuel Bainbridge Richardson of Louisville. However, his brother , James Blakemore, married Catherine Keene of Oldham County, Ky., according to papers of the late William Mason Buck, of Warren County, Va., great-grandson of Capt. Thomas Blakemore and Annie Neville. Perhaps James' wife was Miss Greene, and not Keene as B.F.M. states. I have no record of the other three children of Capt. Thoams Blakemore and Annie Neville - Annie, Sarah and Hannah. - B.T.C." #264 "NEVILLE, POMEROY - Mildred Neville, the daughter of John Neville, married George Frederick in Shelby County, Ky, in 1809. Want information regarding John Neville. Isaac Pomeroy, born in Pennsylvania in 1781, died in Shelbyville, Ky., 1854, married in Shelby county, Elizabeth Clayton, daughter of David Clayton in 1808 or 1809. Can anyone give information in regard to Pomeroy's parents? L.G.C." #264 Answer: "NEVILLE, POMEROY - L.G.C., Mar. 6, 1936: According to a Louisville man who has gone into the Sons of the American Revolution on this Neville line, Mildred Neville, who married George Frederick, was not a daughter of John Neville, but of Col. Presley Neville. Presley Neville, major and aide-de-camp to Lafayette in 1778, lieutenant colonel, 1778, was born 1756, died Dec. 18, 1818; married Nancy, dau. of Gen. Daniel Morgan, the Revolutionary hero. He (Presley) was son of Gen. John Neville (b. July 26, 1731-d. July 29, 1803) and his wife Winifred Oldham, daughter of John Oldham and his wife, Anne Conway, of Prince William County, Virginia." #270 "NEVILLE - Was Gen. Joseph Neville, who died in Hardy County, West Virginia, a son of George Neville of Prince William and Fauquier Counties, Virginia? Was Col. John Neville, of virginia and Pennsylvania, a son or nephew of George neville? did George neville have sons Gen. Joh and Gen. Presley Neville, as stated in Norris History of Shenandoah Valley? Please give proof - B.T.C." [Ren, looks like Norris History may be where some "misinformation" on your line began. Sounds like it is worth checking, anyway. Jan] #476 "COTTON, NEVILLE - William Cotton of Loudon county, Va., died in Fayette County, Ky., 1820, where he had settled in 1787.
