I have in The Huguenot Trails Vol. XXIV, No. 3, Oct. 1991. , pg. 12, a map dated 1867 of New Rochelle which shows many of the early surnames on the properties. The date of Dr. John Neufville (no de before the name) is 1690 and he has 40 acres. There is a space of 145 acres between his property and that of my ancestor Ambroise SICARD which by Canadian standards is about 1 farm and but a short stroll up the road. It Ambroise SICARD's descendant Mary SECORD who married Thomas NEVILL s/o Moses, here in Ontario and who were my direct ancestors. The age of the John Neufville on the 1710 census in Rupps would make it very likely he was the same man. He would have been born c1640 so that would fit nicely with him having the land in 1690. The same article also says New Rochelle was founded in 1688. Do you think knowing the other names on the map would be of any value. I could copy them out if you like and they might strike a chord for someone on the list. Maybe someone else can see a name there that one of their Neville ancestors married. What do you think? It wouldn't be a big job as there aren't many. Paddy
