Here are a few more sites mentioning that Dutch Jean de Neufville. He's clearly a prominent person in Dutch history, so he can't be the same person as the doctor. They may be related, however? Surely the name is French. The first two sites are in Dutch. Anybody who knows a related language may be able to make some of it out. http://www.geschiedenis.com/hoofdlijn/1750.html http://194.229.98.107/Oudover.htm This one lists his birthday as May 25, 1729...40 years after the doctor arrived in New York. It also says he started the "fourth English War"...whatever that was. http://tekka.wwa.com/~mjm/almanac2/may/0525.html "1729, Jean de Neufville, Dutch/US merchant (started 4th English war)" Sounds like an interesting character!
