Elizabeth Bohannan or their Rev War general sons Joseph and John (I come from John) or their chillin, may I offer you excerps from a biographical Sketch published in "1899", within shoutin range of very close, hands on relatives. This concerns the biography of one Geroge N. Neville aka George Norbourne Neville, reported last son George Neville and Elizabeth Wolfe. George Neville is "reportedly" the 12 child of Joseph Neville and Agness Nancy Brown. To you southern types, this might not be of interest, but perhaps you can help this old person out. According to "Portrait and Biographical Album" Vermilion County, Illinois, published in Chicago, Chapman Brothers, "1889" under the "subject" George N Neville, in part......(and not exact).....The ancestry of Mr. Neville is traced back to the Land of the Thistle, his paternal grandparents "emigrating" from Scotland to Virginia, in time for his grandfater, Joseph Neville, to take part as a brigadier general on the side of the colonists in their struggle for liberty.....amoung sons of grandfather Neville (gen Joseph) was George, the father of the subject, who was born in Moorefield W. VA and was the "youngest" of twelve children........They site his marriage to Elizabeth Wolfe, mother of George N. Neville (the subbject) the dau of Lewis and Cataherine Wolfe, natives of Germany. The article goes on to show marriage dates and children of George Norbourne Neville etc. whos wife is Mary S. Throckmorton. I recently discovered a cousin that grew up in Richmond CA as my family did. His name was David Calfee. My parents always told me that the Calfee's were related. My Grandfather had them tied to (without proof) to to Gen Joseph Neville. When I contacted David he said the Neville connection was one Ada Nourbourne Neville, parents unknown. Ada is listed as a child of George Norbourne Neville and Mary Throckmorton. Obviously I was thrilled to find this connection but in reading this "Portrait" that arrived in the mail today, I threw up. Now I don't have a problem being descended from the Scotch Nevilles, lord knows I drank too much of it in younger years. This just adds a big bond fire to the disputed parents of one Joseph Neville who has been claimed to be by Joseph and Ann, Richard and Ann, and George and Ann Burroughs. Could it be that all of these "big time" genealogist ie:Boogher etc missed the banana boat all together and General Joseph is completly segregated from the "reported" line. Now wouldn't it be real fun if George N., son of George, is the grandson of George and Ann Burroughs.....I sure like it when they name all their kids after some relative.
