Hi Paddy, Jan and others, Were y'all ever able to determine if Moses Nevill of Beaufort, NC had any connection with Moses of Harford Co, MD? I followed your exchanges but don't recall seeing how the comparison of signatures flushed out. Also, this was the record that Jan found that was VERY interesting: 1753, July 17, WILLIAM NEVILLE, son of JACOB, is named as grandson of Edward Matthews in Craven Co., NC will. Also named in Matthews will: daughter Ann (wife of Cornelius Gray), Mary Matthews, Elizabeth Winfield and Sarah Matthews; daughters Pricilla, Lucretia and Luremia Matthews Executrix. Lawrence Hyland Executor. Test: Martin Hagen, Thomas Mitchell, Elizabeth Rigbe. (NC Hist. & Gen. Reg., Vol. 1, p. 345, "Abstracts of Wills.") Was anyone ever able to determine if this Thomas Mitchell was the Thomas Mitchell of Harford? I'd also like to point out that not only does this record have Nevilles, Matthews, and Thomas Mitchell in the same record as was pointed out earlier, but that the Hyland family was very prominent in Cecil county and had business dealings my Nevilles over a few generations. So, we have Nevilles, Matthews, Thomas Mitchell and Hyland all in one record. Paddy, I confess that I've never developed a grasp on the structure of your Harford County Neville family. Would you happen to have some kind of synopsis, narrative or family group sheets that I could get copies of to digest? My Thomas NEVILL s/o Moses of Harford, MD, married Mary SECORD in 1808 here in Ontario, Canada. Mary SECORD is a descendant of Ambroise SICARD of New Rochelle, New York who was a contemporary of Dr. Jean de Neufville. I have often wondered if the families were acquainted some 100 years earlier in N.Y. Just some food for thought. Paddy
