Alice: Just re-read your 2/24/99 12:07:50 AM message re JOHN MAUZEY BLAKEMORE. If I understand what you wrote, you were suggesting that JOHN MAUZEY BLAKEMORE was brother of LUCY NEVILLE and, thus, also of her eight sisters. I don't believe this is correct. Nothing I have found suggests a son was born to CAPT GEORGE NEVILLE and MARY GIBBS. GEORGE NEAVILL's (sic) will dated 26 Feb 1774, proved in Fauquier County court 27 Jun 1774, lists nine daughters (MARY, LUCY, MILDRED, SUSAN, ELIZABETH, LETITIA, ANN, JUDITH and JOANNA). There is no mention of a son; although several sons in law are mentioned Here's where the confusion arises, I think. CAPT GEORGE BLAKEMORE, son of Capt. THOMAS BLAKEMORE and ANN NEVILLE, m. 26 May 1783, ELIZABETH MAUZEY, b. abt 1756, d. abt 1824. They had seven children (according to my records). Their first born was LUCY NEVILLE BLAKEMORE, b. 5 May 1784, m. 5 Apr 1802, WILLIAM RICHARDSON BUCK, and their 6th child, was JOHN MAUZEY BLAKEMORE, b. 4 Jun 1798, d. 29 Jul 1853, m. 10 Aug 1820, LETITIA AMELIA BUCK. Thus, LUCY NEVILLE BLAKEMORE and JOHN MAUZEY BLAKEMORE, were brother and sister. Does this make sense to you? Cheers! Jerry Dalton
