Daris, In reply to your message which was forwarded to the list earlier this month, I have a couple of questions. You show the middle initial of Thomas Nevil of Amherst Co., VA and Rutherford Co., TN as C. and suggest that it might stand for Cornelius. Where did you find evidence that C. is his middle initial and that the name might be Cornelius? Were others in your family named Cornelius? I know that name was used in the Capt. James Nevil (1686-1752) group in Amherst Co. but haven't come across it in Thomas's line. The other subject you mention is a link to John Neville of the Ark and Dove. If you are relying on what is in print about the connection between James Nevil of Albemarle and Amherst Co., VA with the Nevilles who were in Fauquier Co., VA (several brothers) and ultimately linked with John Neville of MD, you need to know that no evidence actually exists of such a connection. Members of this list have been looking at both families for more than a year and trying to document sources for some information which has been in print for almost a hundred years now. Unfortunately, an early genealogy, which is probably the source of most information in print on this family, has family links which cannot be documented, including a link between John Nevill of MD who may have arrived on the Ark and Dove and the VA Nevilles. I think the research in this area is ongoing, and I am sure list members will be glad to hear your comments in relation to this subject.
