Hello Larry, Welcome to the list! It's great to have a GA researcher who is descended from John Nevill. I have been looking at the Nevills in Beaufort Co., NC, and I think some researchers show your John Nevill being part of that group, but I don't know if the connection has been documented. Have you found any information which might link John (b. ca 1725) with the Beaufort Co., NC Nevills? How did you establish approximate dates for John's birth and death? It is very interesting that your Delilah Nevill married Samuel Williams because a Williams group was in the same area as the Nevills in Beaufort Co. The two family names are found in some records together. Do you happen to know anything about Samuel Williams' family? Have you seen the book The Nevill Family of Bullock Co., GA by Hugh Floyd or A 370 Year History of One Neville Family by Joseph B. Neville? In both books, Mr. Floyd has information about Deliah and Samuel Williams' descendants. He shows his ancestor Jacob Neville as the brother of your Deliah, and he also shows their father as John and mother as Frances Ann Mixon. He then links John with a Jacob Nevil/Nevill who lived in Beaufort Co., NC, showing the Jacob of Beaufort Co. as the father of John and another Jacob as the brother of John. I have references to Jacob Nevill, Sr., Jacob Nevill, Jr., Moses Nevill, John Nevill and Absolom Nevill found in the Beaufort Co. records, but have not yet looked up all of the documents or looked for their link with the GA Nevills. The Beaufort Co., NC group is interesting because they used some of the same family names as a Nevill/Neville group who were in the area of Harford Co., MD. Moses is the most notable of those names; however, the Moses Nevill in Beaufort Co., NC seems to be a generation older than the one in Harford Co. Surnames associated with both Nevill groups include Mitchell, Davis, and Williams. However, I don't think anyone has established an actual link between the NC and MD groups yet. Moses Nevill of Harford Co., MD moved with his family to Canada shortly after the Rev. War. (Thomas Welch of MD and his family moved with Moses. Welches/Welshes also lived in Beaufort Co., NC, but I haven't found them linked to the Nevills yet.) We have a list member from Canada, Paddy Chitty, who is descended from the Harford Co. Moses Nevill who went to Canada. Through this list, we have been able to share information that has helped us guess about a connection between the Beaufort Co. group and the Harford Co., MD Nevills but nothing has been proven. If you have done in research on connecting your family with the Beaufort Co. group, I guess you have learned that you have to look under many different district, county and precinct names including Bath and Albemarle, to name just a couple. I am looking forward to hearing more about your family and sharing information.
