This is Brigadier General Joseph Neville who married Agnes Nancy Brown. He is listed in the Neville books as son of Joseph Neville, Sr. and Ann Bohannan. This obituary was referenced in MARRIAGES AND DEATHS 1763 TO 1820, by Mary Bondurant Warren, 1968. I have a copy of the actual obituary taken from the SAVANNAH REPUBLICAN, April 12, 1819. It was sent to me in 1988 by Della Morgan Martin. "Died--On the 4th of March, at hes seat, in Hardy county, (Va.) general Joseph Neville, after a short illness, in the 85th year of his age. He was an old and respectable citizen of the county of Hardy, universally esteemed; during his long life he filled many offices of high trust and confidence. In the revolutionary war he bore a zealous and active part in his country's behalf. At the close of that struggle, he was appointed, on the part of the state of Virginia, one of the commissioners to run the line between that state and Pennsylvania, and he afterwards represented the district in which he lived in the congress of the United States. At the time of his death he held the commission of brigadier general of the militia." Glenn Gohr ggohr01@mail.orion.org
