    1. Tennessee Nevilles
    2. Kathy, I am posting some information about George Nevill who lived in Montgomery Co., TN. I have not verified all of this information which was given to me by various Neville researchers, but maybe it will help you get a better picture of this family group. George Nevill, b. 1734 in VA, son of Joseph and Ann or Mary Bohannon. (Joseph mentions son George in a Fauquier Co., VA deed.) Lived in Greenville District, SC, and Montgomery Co., TN, where he died in 1811. He was in TN ca 1785. Nevill's Station the name of the fort he and Joseph B. Nevill built on Red River near Clarksville, TN. He settled on military land granted by NC to soldiers of the Continental line. George married 26 March 1762 in Fauquier Co., VA, to Rachel Earle, b. ca 1740 in VA, dau. of Samuel Earle III and Anna Sorrell. She died in 1829 in Montgomery Co., TN. George and Rachel were the parents of the following: (1)Violetta S. (Soiel or Sorell) Nevill, b. 4 Feb. 1763 in Fauquier Co., VA; d. after 1838. She m. Barkely Wm. Pollock (after 1795?). (Later, I will add information on following generations and you can paste it in.) (2)Joseph Barger (or Barget) Nevill, b. 24 Dec. 1764 in Fauquier Co., VA; d. after 1850 (on 1850 Stewart Co., TN census). He m.(1) Rachel Whitfield House; m.(2) Elizabeth Pollock on 5 Oct. 1802 in Mont. Co., TN; m.(3) Mary Whitfield Killebrew No one has ever found any children fathered by Joseph. (3) Sophia Nevill, b. 19 May 1766 in Fauquier Co., VA; made will in 1838. She married Christopher Owens (no date). (4) Ann Nevill, b. 6 Feb. 1769 in Greenville Dist, SC; d. 5 May or Nov. 1796. She married Bryan Whitfield in 1795. in TN. (5) George Washington Nevill, b. 19 Feb. 1772 in Greenville Dist., SC; d. 2 Feb. 1859 in Hickman Co., KY (?). He married Rachel Killebrew in 1798. He moved to Weakley Co., TN, ca 1823, and then to Hickman Co., KY, ca 1827. However, the 1850 Montgomery Co., TN census shows him back there living with his brother John. I think he and Rachel are buried in Hickman Co., KY. (He and John were in shipping business together over in the Hickman - Ballard Co. area of KY. They shipped horses and probably tobacco and other goods down Mississippi River to Natchez and New Orleans. According to one researcher, George helped to build the flatboats used for shipping.) (6) John Nevill, b. 20 Mar. 1774 in Greenville Dist., SC; d. after 1850. He married Sarah (Sally) Wimberly. No one has found children fathered by John. He did adopt a daughter, Elizabeth, Sarah's by a former marriage(?). (7) Rachel Nevill, b. 27 Jan 1776 in Greenville Dist., SC; d. 1847. Married in 1800 in TN to Septimus Williams I. (They are ancestors of Robert Septimus Jett, a long-time Neville researcher who was a very active member of the Society of John Neville Descendants. Mr. Jett was a very gracious correspondent who helped me a great deal when I first began researching my line.) (8) Miriam (or Marian) Neville, b. 4 May 1778 in Greenville Dist., SC; d. 23 Apr. 1852. She married Needham Whitfield in 1798 in TN.
