I have compiled information on Dennis Neville which documents one Neville family who lived in PA, KY, MS, and LA in 1700's and 1800's. This infomation has been collected over a period of several years with a great deal of help coming from Ruth Nevels of Mississippi. According to parish records in LA, Denis and his wife Helen Brown were natives of Ireland. Denis was born probably between 1725 and 1750. Since he and his children and grandchildren can be followed fairly closely in records and because he had quite a few descendants, this information may benefit other researchers trying to find a connection with him or untangle some of the early Neville families. They lived for a time in Monongolia and Fayette County, PA, (border of VA) before and during the Revolutionary War. One of his daughters married Rezin Bowie, inventor of the Bowie knife and brother to Jim Bowie who made the knife famous and died at Alamo. Some of the families connected with Dennis Neville's family in LA originated in St. Mary's Co., MD. A question I would like to pose to our group concerns Helen Brown, Dennis Neville's wife. Does anyone know if there is a connection between her and Agnes Nancy Brown who m. Joseph Neville, Jr. or between her and Daniel Brown who married Francis Neville b. ca 1720 and lived in Hampshire Co., VA in 1740's? Denis did live in areas where there were other Neville families which do not appear to be connected, at least according to records I have checked so far.
