Uhtred fitz Maldred's maternal grandfather was Uhtred the Bold High Reeve of Bamburg and Ealdorman of Northumbria he died in 1016. He is listed in The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles 1013, 1016. His greatgreatgrandson Walthoef is mentioned 1017. His paternal grandfather was Grimus or Crinan mac Donncaidh (975-1045). Maldred the Elder was the son of Crinan Abtane of Atholl Senesaschall of the Western Isles. He also was Priest of Dull and Archpriest of Dunkeld. and of the Sacred Kindred of St. Columba.
