What I did with the census of Dodson Nevill 1840 is looked at the 1850 census and filled in the best I could off the census and early marriages in Madison County. Nicholas was there he was bondsman in the marriage of James N. Watt, before he married Mary Watt. Richard and Sarah are in the home with them. Dodson is in Gibson County in 1832 in the lawsuit. He did not have to be in Gibson County, to be on the Sheriff's list of free men in Gibson County in 1830, he is there as well as the 1830 census of Lincoln County. Lincoln County had annexed some Alabama Indian Territory in that time frame. I have checked the neighboring counties in Alabama. Checked Limestone and Madison County Alabama very closely and found nothing. The Nevill families there didn't appear to be related to ours. We will need to watch the first names very closely on the early members of the family. Dodson, Richard, Zachariah, Griffin, Lydia, Lizzie,! Elizabeth Jane Nevill, the oldest daughter of Nicholas, Jane Statum is with Zachariah. Looking at the age of Zachariah's family group it is not likely they came directly from North Carolina. James is one and Lydia is seventy five.These names are not common to all the families when combined. I feel the key is going to be Zachariah Nevill and his family. Zachariah doesn't fit in with Dodson's children, he is not a sibling to Nicholas but maybe a first cousin. The older Lydia is old enough to be his Grand Mother. He names his daughter Lydia. I have found a Lydia Nevill in North Carolina, but is wasn't the right one. It is possible that they will be related to some of the early Nevill Family from North Carolina. That was may interest in Carroll County, and the Mathis lawsuit. Working in five mile bands this is a close call. I have went with the Nevill spelling because of Richard & Zachariah, however Dodson was using Nevil,Nevils at times. I did not find a connection to the Zach! ariah Nevill in Tuscaloosa Alabama, but this family used Watt for a middle name and there was some other similarities. I have met one member of this family, he had black hair and a completion like many in Dad's generation. He did look a lot like them. I don't believe they are that closely related just a similar genetic mix. This is in the Ivan Nevill book that I have previously mentioned. It is my feeling that Jane (Nevill?) Statum married in TN. She and Zachariah maybe siblings. Something else I found that was interesting was David Weakly, & David Weakly, SR and Granderson D.
