    3. I'm forwarding Jennifer's message to the list. It concerns the Nevett/Nevell spelling in Dorchester Co., MD. She is not a subscriber to the list. His obituary in the MD Gazette gave his last anme as Nevett/Nevell, but Nevett is definitely the name that has been passed down in the family, and appears on land records, etc. He was Chief Justice of Dorchester County, 1732-1749. The first land transaction I have found for him in the Dorchester Records is August 12, 1719, when he bought 2 acres of land in Cambridge from Arthur and Joan Whitley. He bought 16 acres of land called St. Anthony at the same time. He was listed as Thomas Nevett, Merchant. His wife was Sarah Rider (1710-1790), daughter of John Rider and Ann Hicks. Thomas and Sarah's children were Mary Nevett, who married Henry Ennalls, Jr. Sarah Nevett, who married James Muir Amelia Nevett, who married Ralph Green John Rider Nevett, who married Sarah Ennalls Maynadier This is why I'm not certain that Thomas was the son of Francis Nevitt and Elinor Spink of St. Mary's: neither of those first names were passed down in the family. Thomas Nevett was buried in Christ Church graveyard, Cambridge, so I don't think he was a Catholic. Thanks for any tips! Jennifer
