I have an Irish Thomas Neville who came to Australia in 1833 with his wife Mary Austin, three sons William, Henry and John whose birth was registered in Sydney but I am sure was born aboard the ship Waterloo. We have the place names Kilmonoghan as a clue to their Irish origins, but where in Ireland this is I have no idea. Our Thomas was a corporal with the 21st Regiment of the Royal North British Fusiliers. I was very interested to read your previous postings regarding the history and origins of the Neville name, where did you find this information I'd love to read up on more if possible? If it helps the most common chritian names in our Neville family are James, William, Henry, John, Mary, Jane and Phillip. We have no Patricks at all! If it is any help our Neville family, after arriving in NSW settled in Tasmania, then followed the gold thorough Victoria and then into the Yalgoo goldfelds of Western Australia. WA and Victoria seem to have the highest concentration of my Nevilles and I have some contacts in Vic. I was very glad to see that you are from NZ there doesn't seem to be enough Neville researchers in the South Seas!I have many lines in mine and my husbands family trees that are from NZ but none unfortunately belonning to the Nevilles.
