I am forwarding Rebecca's message to the list. She has just changed her e-mail address, so her original message did not go through. There are several other Neville books besides Joseph B. Neville's 370-Yr-History. I will look through my other Neville books to see if I can find anything else to help prove the connections she is needing. Va. in 1819 . I am related through his son John who had a daughter Elizabeth. The only supporting fact of this is from the book "The History of West Virginia Old and New" by the American Historical Society. I have some other roundabout facts, but nothing concrete other than this story to connect Elizabeth to John and her grandfather Joseph. I received the book "A 370 Year History of One Neville Family" by Joseph Neville in the mail yesterday and have been reading it. He has very little on John, son of Joseph, and nothing on Elizabeth, John and Mary Hider Neville's daughter. I did find something that might help my search for a connection between John and Elizabeth. There was a suit filed in 1824 by Jones Green against the heirs of Gen. Joseph Neville to clear the title to land he had bought just one week before the Gen. Joseph's death and on which no deed had been issued. John Neville was one of the defendants in this suit as were his brothers and sisters. This suit was for 500 acres of land in the County of Randolph on the dry fork of the Cheat River. ( this is land near where Elizabeth and her husband lived) According to what was said in this book, summons was served on every defendant that could be located , even the smallest children. In 1827 it was resolved with the land going to Jones Green. This suit was! filed in Hardy co. and it states that some of the defendants are in other counties. I wonder if Elizabeth and her husband David Gilmore got a summons for this?? How would I go about finding this out? This would really help my case for the DAR, in fact probably cinch it if I could show they were summoned in this case. How would I go about finding out if a summons was issued to Elizabeth and husband, they lived in Randolph co. Va. (now Tucker co.)?? Thanks. Becky Lucas in Ohio
