Has anyone else heard of this connection between the Holton family who appears to have changed their name to Neville? This is rather interesting. I don't know the reason for the name change. Neville appears to have been the father of William Neville who married Lucy Oglesby. John H. Neville appear to have been John Holton from Greene Co. PA who married Lydia Evans. William Neville had a daughter Lydia Evans Neville, and bought land adjoining John H. Neville in Shelby, KY in 1816. He and Lucy sold that parcel in 1830 when they moved to Missouri. Oswell Nevill appears to have been the older brother of William. He owned a portion of the original Neville land grant in Shelby Co. when the conflicting claims were settled. In Greene Co. PA about 1797, a John Holton deed was witnessed by Ozwill Holton. Why they changed their names to Neville we can only speculate. I do not think there was a blood relationship.
