Her great grandparents John and Elizabeth Peter came to Petaluma in 1852 from Kentucky and Missouri and settled on 400 acres near Bloomfield. Bea's grandfather, John T. Peters, a longtime Napa resident, at one time managed the Mervyn Hotel in Glen Ellen. After graduating from Saint Rose Academy, Bea was a volunteer at the San Francisco Canteen and worked as a secretary at the Chemical Warfare Service in San Francisco during World War II, where she met a young attorney, Harry Chandler Scott from Newark, Ohio. They married on September 11, 1943 and resided in San Francisco until 1954, when they moved to Ross, in Marin County. Harry Scott was a partner in Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro in San Francisco, and was for the Mayor of Ross for several terms. Bea was an active homemaker and for many years was a volunteer "Pink Lady" at Marin General Hospital. Bea was always known for her hospitality and her home was always open to family and friends. She is survived by her brother, Dr. James C. Dawson of Healdsburg, her daughters Kathryn Knight of Winchester, MA and Martha Scott of Rohnert Park, her son Craig Dawson Scott of Encinitas, and her "adopted" daughter Jodi Horsman of Moss Beach. She had 5 grandchildren, Jessica Peters Knight of Winchester, MA, Alexa Scott Knight of New York, and Madri, Surya and Jaya Scott of Grants Pass, OR. Bea left Ross and moved to Cardiff by the Sea for 11 years. In her final years, Bea returned to the Bay Area from Southern California and was a resident at Springfield Place in Petaluma for one year. Family and friends will celebrate Bea's life on September 25 in a service at 2PM at Springfield Place, 101 South Ely Blvd, Petaluma.
