Sorry but I think my last message didn't do right. My William in 1880 is 33 so I do think this is the same William in 1850 who is 3. In the 1880 Census William and Mary are on the same page as her parents William & Martha Nichols and her brothers. Would like to know more about William & Mary's children if any has any info. Ramona

Hi, Mary Alice Nichols married William Neville 26 Nov 1867 in White County Arkansas. I think this is William H. mentioned in the James A. Neavill biography who is said to be marshall of Searcy. Can anyone confirm this for me? My insterest is thru the Nichols line. Mary had three brothers and is buried with her parents William and Martha Nichols in Smyrna Cemetery. From census records and Martha Nichols will I know of three children for William & Mary Neville: N.S., female, b 1871 (9 years old in 1880 census), Mattie Maude b 1877(3 years old in census and mentioned in grandmother, Martha Nichols will), and Willie (mentioned in grandmother's will). Does anyone have any more info on this couple desc, etc? Thank you Ramona Nichols

You didn't say when or where Joseph & Hester (Kenton) were born or when & where their son Will Benton Neville was born. Additional markers such as those help when trying to solve a lineage problem. Both Joseph & William are common names. Have you located Joseph & Hester Neville on the 1880 census? That would give you some idea of their birth date and place & that of their parents. If there were other Nevilles in the same locality, that too may provide clues. If Joseph was born prior to 1853 you might want to pursue the following record. Elizabeth Prather Ellsberry, Carroll County, Missouri Wills and Administrations p16 Book A, p165: Repps B Hudson, guardian for Lucy, John W, Joseph & Franklin Neville, minor children of Reuben S Neville, dec'd. 14 Nov. 1853 The name Reuben is not used frequently in the Neville family. There is a Reuben on the 1850 census in a county to the east of Carroll. He has a daughter Lucy, but none of the other names. 1850 Census Ralls Co., MO, p174/352 487 492 Reuben T Nevel, 38, m, farmer, 280, MO Nancy J, 25, f, VA Lucy J, 5, f, MO George W, 2, m, MO This man married Nancy Orear, 5 Feb. 1846, Ralls Co., MO. If you find any clues that look like this Reuben of Ralls Co., could have moved to Carroll Co., I would suggest you obtain a copy of the guardianship and make sure that it is a correct abstract. I would also confirm the 1850 census data & follow those people to see what became of them. There was a Lucy Neville who married Charles T Westfall, 5 April 1874, Ralls Co., MO. My ggg grandfather was named Thomas Neville and his wife was Catherine. Her maiden name was Morgan. As far as we know they had two children: John and Bridget. I have now found information there may have been more children, including a Hanora (Nora?) and others. Not sure when Thomas came to Canada, but John (born 1840) emigrated from Ireland in 1853. I have located death records for Thomas and Catherine, and John as well. Can't locate Bridget's death record. Our family bible (circa 1880) is the source of many family records as well. Please share what you have learned. Thanks! Tom Neville
Roxann, Lydia Nevill b.1775 NC & Zachariah Nevill b. 1825 NC should be in one of the households in the 1840 census of NC. Of The (Nevill-Various Spellings) Families 3 of 13 remained by 1850. This is the ten that were not there in 1850. Augustuz H., Benjamin, Drury, Erasmus, Emsley, Goodman, James, Patrick H., Reddin, Sarah, Thomas R. Three remained James, James R. & Samuel.
