My Neville ancestors were from Ireland and then traveled to America. They settled with their families in Pennsylvania. Later some of them moved west into Kansas and Colorado. We might be related a long ways back in time, it's so hard to tell. The Nevilles in Ireland probably started out in England and then moved into Northern Ire. about 1600. Have you found very much of your family history? Please write to me directly to: WriteB4Robin@cs.com

I am searching for a James Neville who was born in the Carrickmacross area of Ireland mid 1800s who was a sailor if any one can help i would be very gratefull. Bill.
Dear Nevilles; I am searching for information on a Indian woman named Dinah Nevil. She and her four children were sold in 1773 by Nathaniel Lowry of New Jersey to Benjamin Bannarman of Virginia. When she and her new owner stopped in Philadelphia, she protested publically that she and her children were "free people." A group of Quakers took up her cause and spent two years in court working to free her. In 1775 the court declared that she and her children were slaves. In 1781 a Quaker named Thomas Harrison purchased the family and set them free. Her case prompted the establishment of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society. I would appreciate any information anyone might have on this woman or her children. Thanks for your help. P. L. Scholley

At this point I'm not really sure, but your Neville Family may have a connection to mine. I'm tracing a Patrick Neville from somewhere in Ireland to Bainbridge, Independence, Cleveland, Ohio. Some family members went to Montana and possibly Colorado and finally California. Our side stayed on Ohio, a few miles from Independence, Ohio (Cuyahoga County) not far from the Pennsylvania border. Patrick Neville circa 1828 Ireland James J. Neville circa 1850 Independence, Ohio Linda Neville Brennan circa 1880. Cleveland, Ohio Any connection? Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YA3.2ACEB/148.200.4 Message Board Post: I read a message from Bob Neville concerning 3 distinct Neville lines on this site. I have been researching Nevilles for several years and have discovered I am descended from Joshua Neville ,a cabinet maker who left Queens County Ireland at an early age (according to his obituary) and arrived in Charleston SC around 1790. He married in a Methodist church in Charleston which leads me to believe he was protestant.Names in the family include Henry, William Clement,Junius,Thomas, Martha,Kitty,Margaret and Mary. I have not had any sucess in finding anything about our family in Ireland and am wondering about how best to approach it. If his family were protestant and living in Queens Co. Ireland in the 1700's, would that maybe give me some place to start and if so where? I am also curious as to what might have prompted him to leave Ireland(political ,economic etc). Thanks for any help you might provide. William Neville
