I know that one of my Great Grandmother's sister's Ellen Neville, married a John Casey, and went to Dodge City Iowa around 1869 or so, so it makes sense that possibly her Sister Margaret may have gone along as well. They were born in Leeds Quebec, and later moved to the Renfrew County Ontario area. From there, the Brother's and Sisters moved all over North America. Their parents names were Michael Neville and Johanna Kenrick, both immigrated from Ireland around 1820-25. I have only been able to make contact with a very few descendants of this family, and I only have minimal info on where any of them ended up.

    2. Rebecca Lucas
    3. Hello again, I just came back from a trip to West Virginia where I located the grave of David Gilmore and Elizabeth Neville Reay Gilmore. ( I believe she was a granddaughter of Joseph Neville who died in Hardy co. Va. in 1819) They are buried at Israel United Methodist Church cemetery in Kerens, West Virginia. Their tombstone reads "Saviour Lead Me" David Gilmore - died June 27, 1872 aged 76. Under this it says "Elizabeth - His wife- Died April 5, 1873 - Aged 81. This would put her birthdate at 1791 or 1792. Becky in Ohio

    3. I am applying to the DAR under Joseph Neville b. 1733 Gloucestor co. Va. who died in Hardy co. Va. in 1819. A person who is helping me from the chapter recently went to Washington D.C. She found a copy of an approved application for Joseph Neville. Approval date was 1971. It showed Joseph Neville, wife Nancy Brown. Son - John Neville and a wife Magdaline Spickart. Wow, my research shows that John Neville, this Joseph's son had a wife Mary Hider (who I believe is my Elizabeth's mother) and a second wife Mary Miller. The name Spickart is unusual in this application, because it is a variation of my gg-grandfather George Spessert's name, he is the one who married John Neville's granddaughter Clorinda Gilmore. The Spessert name has been spelled different ways and in the Tucker co. WVa 1860 census where Elizabeth Neville Gilmore is listed with her husband David, the Spessert name is spelled Specard and Speckard. I have seen it as Speckart. This could be a coincidence as far as th! is name goes, I really don't know if there is a connection there or not. What I really want to know is "who is this John Neville and wife Magdalene Spickart? Why are they listed in Washington D.C. as son and daughter - in - law of Joseph Neville and wife Nancy Brown? Will this throw my application out? Thanks for your help. Becky Lucas in Ohio

It is always nice to get a great surprise, and that is what I got when I found all your Neville information on the Ancestry.com site. Thank you! I also, got a nice surprise when you e-mailed back so quickly. I would love to send you information. I just am not sure how to do it. I am really new to the whole internet thing and new to the ancestry.com site. I do not understand it at all. Maybe you can help me to undrstand some things first. I do not think that I am interested in being a member of Ancestry.com, as I feel that all those kind of sites end up costing way to much. Did you find this to be true or do you know a great site to join for research purposes. Also, did you have to be a member to put your "family files" on the site. Does it cost you to add to your information. Also, I do not know what a gedcom is. I have not put any information into a computer, so it will take awhile to get this to you. All of our information is from Martha Neville and Henry Hopson's son William who married a (Polly or as I found yesterday maybe his first wife's name was Mary Young) Anyway, we descend from their sixth child Samuel who married Lucinda Stuart and had Seventeen Children. I am a 3Great Grandson of Samuel and Lucinda(who married in 1815) My mom and dad are the two that did all the research for their book "Tracks on the Hopson Trial" that they published in 1999.It is all about the descedants of Samuel and Lucinda and just alittle about the three generations above them. They did this research back in the 1980's while I was in middle and High school, so I went with them. I was the one who would climb the fences to the graveyards and read the tombstones for dates and names. (We did it the old fashion way) and now I am trying to continue their work and correct any misinformation. You seem to have all the Neville information that we have. You are missing alot from William and ?(Polly or Mary Young) Hopson down, and that is where we can help You finish a line. Alot of the males do carry the Neville middle or first name and so do some females. We do not have any family stories that explain why, it just started to honor Martha Maiden name. Also, Please send this to all the Neville List, in hopes that perhaps they have Hopson information. Samuel and LUcinda had 17 children, 2 died at 1year of age, 1 died during the War between the States, at 15? years old, the other 14 lived to marry and have children. We are in contact with 10 of the lines, but have not found 4 of them. I am really trying to find those 4 lines before our next "Reunion of the Descendants of Samuel and Lucinda Hopson" I look forward to staying in contact. 3. Bob, I have had almost no luck finding the Irish side of the Neville Family. My Patrick was born in Ireland (I don't know where) in 1828. He married Mary Conners and had five children that I'm aware of. James J. Sept. 18, 1857 born in Bainbridge, Ohio Patience Michael John Feb. 2, 1860 Cleveland, Ohio John July 2, 1868 Independence, Ohio Thomas May, 1864 Independence, Ohio James J. (probably John) is my husband's great grandfather. Are there any matches? Are most of the Irish Neville's from Limerick? We'll be visiting again next spring and would make sure to visit if that is the case. Thanks in advance. 3. Shirley & Roxann, It is possible regarding Dodson and Richard we are missing a entire family group, I have seen other messages posted with simular problems in reference to the Georgia and Alabama Nevill Families. Richard Nevill in Madison County 1850 was there with Dodson in 1840 and maybe another Alabama Mystery. Madison County, TN Nevill Family of 1850, Who is Zachariah Nevill? Zachariah Nevill 25 NC, w. Eliza 24 NC, (G or C)uzzy M. F. NC, Griffin T. 2 M. TN, Jane Statum 21 F. , James Statum 1 M. TN, Family left NC about 1848 ? Cuzzy could be Augustine? This name was used by Hardy Nevill Will #1009 p. 693 4 Feb 1815 Halifax Co, 1840 p8. Benjamin male 1 70-80, female 1 10-15 ((Sarah (Nevill?) Statum)), 1 60-70? ? Zachariah Nevill=Hezekiah Holt The best possibility I see is Hezekiah Holt being Zachariah Nevill, Lydia is the wife of this Benjamin and the young female in this home is Sarah, that is in the home of Zachariah in 1850.
