Still working to see about the dates I don't expect this helps much. What do you have on the Neville line? Thanks June
Bob, I have been trying to find my Irish ancestors. my gr grandfather's grave states that he was from County limerick. he emigrated to Australia in 1864 aboard the "Sandringham". His marriage certificate states that his parents were Patrick Neville and Bridget Sullivan. He could have had a brother Patrick who also seems to have settled in the same region as Thomas but I haven't as yet been able to confirm this. Despite some searching through the Limerick Genealogical Society I have not been able to trace his(Thomas') parents. The shipping record states that he was aged 24 from Robertstown. One theory is that he did not come from Robertstown originally but was working there when he emigrated. he married a Mary O'Shea from Limerick soon after arriving in Australia ----- Original Message ----- From: <bob.n@clear.net.nz> To: <NEVILLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 10, 2001 11:42 AM Subject: [NEVILLE-L] Re: NEVILLE FAMILY > > > Hi peggy > any one who comes from the croagh, rathkeale, askeaton areas > are inall probability part of the one extended family > so welcome to the international family of nevilles. > can't help with Lydia sorry. do you have anything on thomas > with parents or siblings. > i still have a lot of loose ends to tidy up. 1 is that my Patrick had an extra brother called thomas but have not been able to come up with any facts > the other is the Knock Patric Neville family from Foyes Isle in the late 1700s he had 4 sons & three daughters have only records on one son Patrick who came out to Australia > regards bob > > > > ==== NEVILLE Mailing List ==== > Have you tried the Rootsweb Surname Helper Search Engine? > http://cgi.rootsweb.com/surhelp/srchall.html > >

I have an Irish Thomas Neville who came to Australia in 1833 with his wife Mary Austin, three sons William, Henry and John whose birth was registered in Sydney but I am sure was born aboard the ship Waterloo. We have the place names Kilmonoghan as a clue to their Irish origins, but where in Ireland this is I have no idea. Our Thomas was a corporal with the 21st Regiment of the Royal North British Fusiliers. I was very interested to read your previous postings regarding the history and origins of the Neville name, where did you find this information I'd love to read up on more if possible? If it helps the most common chritian names in our Neville family are James, William, Henry, John, Mary, Jane and Phillip. We have no Patricks at all! If it is any help our Neville family, after arriving in NSW settled in Tasmania, then followed the gold thorough Victoria and then into the Yalgoo goldfelds of Western Australia. WA and Victoria seem to have the highest concentration of my Nevilles and I have some contacts in Vic. I was very glad to see that you are from NZ there doesn't seem to be enough Neville researchers in the South Seas!I have many lines in mine and my husbands family trees that are from NZ but none unfortunately belonning to the Nevilles. Response to William Neville. Although I now live in Texas, I did live in Illinois where most of my gggrandfather (Willliam) lived, around Dwight, Illinois. He first purchased property to farm around 1857. The only clue that I have on his birth is on his tombstone, which says he was from County Wexford, Ireland. He had three sons, James, Thomas and Andrew. James and Thomas lived in Illinois, and Andrew ended up in Louisiana at the time of Williams death, in 1879. Don't know if this connects to your ggggrandfather. Thomas Neville
