    1. [Nevada] CASNER/CARSNER SURNAME
    2. Elizabeth E. Freeman
    3. Just checking in to see if there are any CASNER/CARSNER descendnts/researchers who might be lurking about in cyberspace and watching this list. I am researching the CASNER/CARSNER surname. I have a family of 12 (sometimes 13) sons and one daugher who made their way to OR circa 1852. The daughter (Nancy Jane Casner) married Harvey Fields and lived out her life in OR. One of the brothers, Andrew Jackson, was in OR, WA, went up into Canada and left a trail a mile wide. Another brother, Jonas Carsner, came to OR (from KS) in 1862 and died there in 1864. His wife (Sarah Anna Jane Parkinson Carsner) then married John Shelley. After Sarah died, John then married Louisa Ellen Slavens Fields (my great grandmother). Circa 1874 there was a split in the family of all those brothers (it seems two of them got in a fight over a woman to which neither was married). Some of them then went to AZ, NM, TX and some remained in OR/WA. Those that remained in OR/WA changed the name to CARSNER; those that went on to AZ, NM, TX kept the spellnig CASNER. One of the brothers (John) and his son (John Lewis Casner) often mined in NV. The otehr son of the elder John Casner (George Washington Casner) died in NV when a horse fell on him. His wife remarried in 1884; her second husband was killed in a property dispute; she remarried and her third husband died of mysterious circumstances; she remarried a 4th time (don't know wha became of the fourth husband). Would like to communicate with anyone researching either name. Willing to share information.
