Kaura,1962,pp.35-39,Printed by the Nebraska Farmer Co, Lincoln NE. Jonas Gilbert is also mention on pp.65 in connection with the early organization of the Saline County Government. There is also a John Gilbert who bought a part of the present site of DeWitt in 1865 and in 1871 sold it to the town site company. This family is not related to the Gilbert family in the Friend area.
