To the list-- Thanks to Roger for catching this All those Richard Langleys sure got confusing (the one on the census, his son, and his father!) I goofed and put in Richard's father's christening instead of his! It should have read christened 3 Dec 1821 in Morland, Westmorland, England. (His father, I think, was Richard Langley christened in 1788, married Elizabeth Winshell 29 Jul 1811 in Long Marton, Westmorland.) Thanks for catching this! Sure looks like the same families in your censuses, but I reckon Richard the first must have had a close encounter with a black hole when he crossed the Atlantic. That way its fine for him to be baptised in 1788, be 54 in 1870 and 59 in 1880. Ruth was only slightly affected by the calamity, and happily George and the various kids seems to have escaped altogether, Being born in Illinois is obviously beneficial.
