Ne Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ne/Saline/42 Surname: Peterson, Moffitt, Blackburn, Pierce, Wright, Thompson, Henderson, Pickel, Baker ------------------------- I am looking for any one who has any information on Admiral Romonzo(called Bud) Peterson who was born Dec 3, 1853 I believe in Iowa. He was the son of Thomas Peterson and Mary Wright. Admiral married Sarah E Moffitt on Oct 31, 1880 in Dorchester, Saline Co. Sarah E Moffitt was born abt 1858 at New Rutland, Lasalle County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Andrew Moffitt and Ruth Ann Blackburn who were both of Dorchester. Her parents are buried in the main cemetery there. Admiral Peterson and Sarah(Sadie) Moffitt later moved to Grand Junction, Mesa Co. Colorado. Admiral had served as a Post Master in Dorchester at one time. Andrew Moffitt was president of the GAR in Dorchester. Admiral Peterson was a brother of my greatgrandfather Francis Marion Peterson who moved to Michigan about the turn of the century. I am looking to find any information about the above and hopefully find some of their descendants. My e-mail address is gyssee_2000@yahoo.com Thanks Gail

    1. Re: county seat
    2. County Records are at Wilber Nebraska at the court house. Death certificates were not kept in Nebraska until 1904 and that year is sparse. All marriages and estate/wills etc. are at the court house up to that point. The Library in Wilber also has a lot of genealogy for that area. donna

    3. Posted on: Saline Co. Ne Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ne/Saline/39 Surname: Fisher, Dow, Carleton ------------------------- I was interested in 7-24-99 comment in guest book by Dave Fisher, Major USMC mentioning T.C. Fisher and his farmland. Thomas Carleton Fisher was born in Ohio 7/23/1836 and died in Saline Co. 4/11/1907. He was married to Avis Moore 4/7/1867 at Dixon, ILL. T. C. Fisher was one of 14 children born to Jacob and Ruth Carleton Fisher. One of his sisters, Adeline or Aurelia Adeline was married to William H. Dow at Dixon, Ill. The Dows were my great grandparents and homesteaded in Thayer County in April 1881. I am fortunate enough to have a very old scrapbook that belonged to my great grandmother with quite a bit of info on the Fisher family in Nebr. and Paw Paw, Lee Co., ILL, etc. I am hoping Dave Fisher sees this; T.C. and his wife had six children, three girls and three boys; one of the girls died in infancy. The other girls were Lillie and Cora (Mrs. J.E. LeGrande); the three sons were Willlam E, Charles E. and George L. All but George lived around Tobias I believe. I was raised in Thayer County and am presently researching the Dow side and have discovered this info about the Fishers.

    1. Schwalm
    2. Terrie/Thad
    3. My Great-grandfather was JOHN SCHWALM/SWALM. He was married to MARY/MARIE SMITH they were both born in Germany and settled in Canada where my Grandfather was born (1877) and then came to the US in 1887. I have found a John Schwalm listed in the 1890 Gazetteer. This is the first county I have found the SCHWALM name. I have a copy of the 1920 census for Forsyth, Montana and it has my GGrandmother listed as a widow and living next door to my Grandfather CHARLIE SWALM. Living with my GGrandmother are five children ages fifteen to thirty, all of the children's birth places are listed as Nebraska. I don't know when the name was changed from SCHWALM to SWALM. My Grandfather CHARLIE SWALM married RACHEL DOWNING she was born in Norden, NE and raised in Ainsworth, NE. They were married in Ainsworth and I have a copy of their marriage certificate and an article in the newspaper regarding their marriage. My brick wall is finding where in Nebraska the SWALM family settled and where the children were born and where JOHN SCHWALM/SWALM died. I know he must have died sometime between 1905 and 1920. Where would I find additional information on the SCHWALM/SWALM family in Saline county. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Terrie
