Mr. THORNBURGs boyhood days were spent on a farm near West Point, Iowa, where he attended the country schools. No Gilberts grave is def. not haunted. In fact he isn't even buried there, but his cremains are in the library at Friend Nebraska. I believe that John Gilbert had turrets syndrome, and he was eccentric, he donated the money to build the Friend Library and he had a huge wild life preserve at his farm. Many of the buffalo and elk have descendents at the Niobrara State Park in northern Nebraska. His family originally came from Darke County Ohio, and his grandmother was Eleanor Bidlack Gilbert. donna

His parents were George E. and Caroline (Ankeny)Dean who removed their family to Bellingham, Washington, where they lived until 1950s. Caroline's parents were Joseph and Mary (Chamberlain)Ankeny who also lived in Lincoln City and Tobias until 1920s. Mary's family moved to Western, Jefferson Couny, NE. Am seeking to find descendants of the Chamberlains, Ankenys, and Steeles as well as the Thomas Glass family so that I can fill in all the gaps. My ancestor, William Davies, lived also in Tobias and is buried in the Atlanta Cemetery with others of the family. What happened to his children..among them were Pency Davies. William was from Wales about 1850, and his sister married a man named Skyrme, also from Wales and residents of Tobias. I believe William had another sister who married someone by the name of Palmer in the Tobias area. Any connections?
